Exceptional Burgundy Velvet Concert Gown & Vintage Evening Ensemble
All creations were originally created for the owner by Margi Kent, c. 1998, in Los Angeles.
A magnificent burgundy velvet full-length concert gown, featuring a graceful gathered mini-train that creates an elegant flowing effect at the back. A beautifully textured satin-like ruffled and ruched hem adds dimension and movement to the rich velvet. The gown is accompanied by a matching satin-like ruffled-collar jacket, featuring flowing velvet long sleeves and an exquisite swirling appliqué design beneath the V-shaped collar opening. The ensemble offers remarkable versatility: the velvet can be styled as a mid-length evening dress, or paired with the velvet underskirt to create a dramatic full-length gown. Adding to its theatrical elegance is a burgundy cut-velvet cape, accented with purple cut-velvet striping along the sides and beautiful border embellishments framing the front opening. A silk chiffon scarf and a hand-sewn, handmade vintage-style handbag complete this extraordinary ensemble. The bag features a gorgeous fleur-de-lis and rose beaded design, with cascading beadwork in a rich variety of burgundy tones and a distinctive short strand-beaded shoulder strap designed to rest elegantly at mid-arm. Of special significance, this beautiful concert ensemble was worn by the owner when she performed in concert at the prestigious Legion of Honor in San Francisco. Its combination of rich burgundy velvet, intricate appliqué, sumptuous textures, and theatrical styling makes it not only a stunning evening ensemble, but a treasured piece of performance history. All elements of this outfit were designed and crafted by famous fashion and costume designer Margi Kent.
